I always enjoy reading the questions here. I’m a woman. I’ve heard that some people register with blurred photos, but does that mean a man who makes an offer can’t clearly see what she looks like until he actually meets her?

Maezawa here—I’ll answer as well. Just to add: Normally, if you blur the profile photo, men who are considering making an offer can view an unblurred photo. However, if a woman requests that even men seriously considering an offer not be shown anything other than the blurred photo, then: The man who made the offer won’t be able to clearly see what she looks like until he actually meets her. That said, most men will usually decide not to make an offer if they can’t see her face beforehand, so arrangements where her appearance remains unclear until the meeting have become relatively uncommon. (Occasionally, an arrangement may still be made based only on the profile, though.) So, regarding the number of offers: Many men will simply rule someone out if her photo is blurred. They also find it bothersome to inquire and would rather look for someone else, so the number of offers drops significantly. And if you can’t show an unblurred photo even to men who do inquire, it will rarely lead to an offer at all. Even so, women in certain popular professions may still receive offers, so it’s a somewhat curious situation.
