This is a very difficult situation.
If you tell him on the spot, it can make things awkward, while ignoring him after you part ways is something men generally dislike.
So, if you’re able to end things after dinner only (no intimacy), I think it’s best to honestly explain the reason by LINE or another messaging app and tell him that it would be difficult to continue seeing each other.
The tricky situation is when you realize during dinner that you don’t click, but it’s not time to part ways yet. I imagine this is more likely with Dating Types C or D.
With this type of arrangement, most men (not all, of course) assume that things may develop into an adult relationship (intimate) after dinner. So even if you turn them down subtly, there’s a good chance they won’t realize they’ve been rejected if you’re too subtle.
That means you may have to be direct, but figuring out how to say it is difficult.
For example…
“I’m really attracted to very heavyset men—I like men built more like sumo wrestlers. You’re very kind and wonderful, but you’re not quite my type, so I don’t think I can continue seeing you. I’m sorry. My tastes are a little unusual…”
If you said something like that, he might just think, “Well, if I’m not her type, there’s nothing I can do. And I guess liking heavyset men is pretty unusual,” and leave it at that.
(I’m not sure whether you could actually end things smoothly that way, though…)
It really is difficult.
