I’m going to dinner at a top-class hotel with my papa (a male supporter), but I’m not sure what to wear. Any advice? I’m in my early 20s.

This is Kida, the representative. A dress, pumps or low heels, skin-toned stockings, simple accessories, and a camel or beige coat— A papa (a male supporter) might be waiting for you to say you don’t own any of those. Just don’t dress up your heart—go in with it bare. You’ve got this.

I’m Nana Ayase ☆ Even at top-tier clubs, some men may be dressed casually in jeans and a jacket, but women should wear understated outfits, such as a dress with 7-centimeter heels. Gothic Lolita styles are definitely not appropriate. Wearing lots of flashy designer brands is also a no-go.

I’m Aya, a female member. I recommend something like a monochrome dress that falls below the knee, or a blouse with a skirt and pumps.

I think what Fuu suggested sounds good. Since you have the opportunity, here are a few details men may not notice. It’s winter, so stockings can look a little chilly, but tights that are too thick can come across as casual. For winter dates, I usually wear tights around 25–30 denier—just sheer enough for a hint of skin to show through. If that slightly mature, subtly sexy look feels too matronly, try around 50–60 denier instead. And for footwear, I’d go with pumps rather than boots. If you’re wearing knitwear, try pairing it with an elegant dress or blouse and cardigan. I don’t think you need to go as far as wearing a jacket. I think these small touches can make you look much more elegant. You’ll enjoy your date more if you feel confident in your outfit, so I hope you can go out in a style you’re truly happy with! Marika

Maezawa from the CEO’s Office here. I think the best thing to do is ask your papa (a male supporter). If you’re not close enough yet to ask him directly, I’d go with something casual but still appropriate for a hotel restaurant. Oh, and it might be a good idea to ask whether there’s a dress code. If there isn’t one, I think anything within the casual range should be fine.

I’m Fuu, a columnist. I think it would be best to ask your papa (a male supporter), or, if you know the restaurant, check with them about the dress code. Generally, it’s best to avoid revealing or overly casual outfits. Go for colors that suit your understated style, along with a blouse and skirt or an elegant dress. For shoes, pumps with a 3–5 cm heel are a good choice. Overall, a polished and sophisticated look is the usual choice.

I’m Kazu, a male member. As long as you avoid anything too casual, like sweatpants and sandals, or anything overly flashy, I don’t think your outfit matters too much. No matter how upscale it is, a hotel is still a hotel. That’s just my perspective, though, and your papa’s may be different. If you’re unsure, I’d suggest asking him what you should wear.
