Men who do papa-katsu aren’t actually popular, are they? They’re just using money to get their way.

I’m Kida, the site representative. Nice—you’ve got potential. You’re thinking along the right lines. Most questions here start from the assumption that papa-katsu uncles aren’t popular with women. So even asking, “Are they popular?”—albeit as a question—shows a certain class. Beautiful women are generally popular, right? And wealthy men also have an image of generally being popular, don’t they? Whether that’s right or wrong is beside the point; in today’s capitalist world, it’s pretty much unavoidable. If we went to a deserted island, I guess men with strong survival skills would be the popular ones. We can agree that wealthy people are popular, right? A lot of wealthy men do papa-katsu, so the two often get mixed up, but I see papa-katsu as something people do not to be popular, but instead of promising marriage or an official relationship. That’s why it’s actually quite common for an extremely handsome, wealthy man to do papa-katsu to avoid overly assertive women. So the answer is: papa-katsu is for people who no longer care about being popular and use their money to seek a convenient relationship.

I’m Osaka, a male member. It really comes down to what both men and women want from a relationship—and sometimes what you put out there is reflected back at you. Of course, because an allowance is involved, it’s different from a normal romantic relationship. But whether you’re only looking for that, or whether you want something beyond the allowance as well, changes the kind of back-and-forth you’ll have. An ATM is a machine, after all lol. If that’s your ideal papa, then so be it—but wouldn’t an ATM that cries and laughs be kind of a hassle? lol Some people want to have that kind of fun back-and-forth, and that’s what I’m looking for too lol. It’s all about finding a match. Mr. Loser, if you ever come to Osaka, I would’ve liked to meet up and talk sometime lol.

I’m a losing guy who’s a male member. You’re absolutely right. I use my money to get women to open their legs. Being able to offer a high allowance = being able to earn money = being a strong male, so I actually feel proud of it. Because I’m proud, I openly tell women I meet through the club: “Please call me an ATM.” That said, I’m an ATM who provides the best dates. The idea that you can offer the best preparation and the best date, so the allowance can be lower, doesn’t fit my values. The losing-guy style is: the best date × the highest allowance. I have a date in Osaka today, so I’m acting a little cocky m(。>__<。)m

I’m Aya, a female member. For older men to be popular with younger women, money is necessary—but money alone still isn’t enough. Women pay attention to whether a man knows how to spend his money stylishly, so men who are smooth and sophisticated in that regard are more popular. If money were all it took, things would be a lot easier.

People who genuinely aren’t popular in real life (?) probably won’t do well with papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), either. They might manage short-term arrangements by offering a high allowance, though. People who can maintain a relationship over time are, after all, wonderful people. Marika

I’m Taro, a male member. Money alone only gets you so far in the sex industry or hostess clubs, doesn’t it? I don’t think relationships through a dating club can last without something beyond money. Let me point out the fundamental misunderstanding: it’s not just about “getting laid.” This isn’t a brothel. The quality of the relationship matters, and I believe that’s determined by the human connection. So yes, I pay an allowance—but I’m not “buying” someone with money. If you don’t understand that, you’re still too immature to talk about dating clubs. If you’re an attractive female member, I’ll teach you everything you need to know—but male impersonators pretending to be women are turned away at the door, haha.

Papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) doesn’t count as experience with men or women, or as romantic experience, to begin with. It has nothing to do with being popular or attractive. —Paper Airplane
