I’m a male member. What do you think a companion can do for a woman who is grieving the loss of a family member? Sorry for the broad question, but I’d appreciate hearing the opinions of those with plenty of experience.

I’m Maezawa from the CEO’s office, and I’ll answer as well. If she asks you for something, I think it’s fine to accommodate her. Just saying, “If anything comes up, I’ll be happy to help,” should be enough. Beyond that, it’s probably best not to bring it up. I’d also suggest continuing to meet at the same pace as before. It’s probably best not to raise the subject yourself.

I’m Taro, a male member. Don’t be intrusive or try to solve her problems. Just stay quietly by her side—not physically, but emotionally. Stay attuned to her feelings, and respond whenever you sense she needs you. But don’t overdo it; gently do only what she’s asking for. If she wants intimacy, give it to her wholeheartedly. If she wants to cry, let her cry until she feels better. When she thanks you or teases you by saying, “You’re strangely sweet today,” that’s a sign she’s starting to feel like herself again. You can respond with a cool, handsome air, or get shy and flustered. There’s no single right answer—just be yourself, and things will usually work out. Getting through a difficult time together can deepen your bond. It’s not something to do with that goal in mind, but if it happens naturally, that’s a good thing.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. I don’t initiate conversation. If she talks to me, I just quietly listen. I don’t try to encourage her or anything.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think you should simply offer your condolences and let her know she can reach out if there’s anything she’d like to talk about, then give her some space without pressing her.
