I’m meeting a C-type girl for the first time soon. We’re going out to dinner, but if things develop into an adult relationship afterward, would a love hotel be okay? Should I book a regular hotel in anticipation of that possibility?

The biggest disappointment is probably when you meet at a city hotel and have dinner at its restaurant, only to hear, “Wait, we’re not going up to a room here?!” (lol) When he books a hotel and even checks in ahead of time, it somehow makes him seem kind of endearing—as if he never imagined she might turn him down. As I mentioned in another question, I hate being made to walk through an area full of love hotels, and if they’re fully booked because it’s the weekend, it’s honestly the worst. If you book a city hotel and she turns you down, either have a little self-reflection session on your own or, as Shingori suggested, call in an escort (lol). Marika

Maezawa from the CEO’s Office here. > Is it really okay to use a love hotel? Unless you have a map in your head of which love hotels are clean, and which one to go to next if the first is full, it’s probably safer not to use one. There’s also the issue of what to do if you book a hotel and she decides she’s going home that day. So, if she agrees toward the end of dinner, you could say, “I’m just going to the restroom,” and make the reservation on the spot. Fortunately, hotels are probably easier to book right now because of the impact of COVID. Before COVID, I feel like there were hardly any rooms available at the last minute unless you booked in advance. (Though if you’re a regular, it seems they may sometimes be able to work something out even when all the rooms are supposedly taken.)

I’m Flagmaker, a column writer. I usually choose date spots around nice love hotels. Basically, I plan things around love hotels. When I’m choosing a location mainly for the restaurant, I sometimes use a nearby business hotel.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. I think it’s best to go somewhere you’re used to. If you usually use love hotels, go to a love hotel; if there’s a city hotel you regularly stay at, use that. After dinner, I decide how far to go based on the woman’s preferences and which of my suggestions she chooses, so I don’t know in advance where we’ll end up. The hotel is chosen according to the destination. Love hotels tend to have more room types and luxurious amenities, so they seem more enjoyable. With a city hotel, there’s a certain excitement and comfort when you first enter the room. But it may feel just a little lacking if you’re looking to really enjoy yourselves…

I’m column writer Shingo Lee (Shingori). When choosing dinner, prioritize how easy it is to get to your next destination afterward—not what you’re eating. □ Is there a suitable bar for a second stop? □ Is there a love hotel between the first and second locations? Fridays and Saturdays are crowded, so you’ll probably end up somewhere like Shinjuku, where there are plenty of hotels. If it’s a Friday or Saturday, book a hotel in advance. If she’s not open to an adult relationship, you can always call a delivery service instead.

I’m Nana Ayase ☆ Since there isn’t much difference between Type B and Type C, I’d recommend a love hotel to keep things discreet, but wouldn’t it be better to look for a city hotel with free cancellation? It would be sad to be turned down or have them just lie there unresponsive at a nice hotel…

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think it depends on the person asking the question, the woman, and the love hotel you take her to. I’ve never heard from any of the women I’m seeing that they went to a love hotel on their first date. Usually, I imagine they go to a city hotel or a business hotel. I don’t like fumbling around after dinner, so I even take care of checking in at the hotel beforehand.

You don’t need to make an actual hotel reservation. Instead, try simulating it on a hotel booking site. For example, let’s say today is the day of the date: 6:30 p.m. — Dinner 8:00 p.m. — Make an adult offer and get her consent Around 8:00 p.m., try simulating whether you’d be able to book a room for that night on a hotel booking site. It’s best to match the day of the week, too. If the date is on a Friday, run the simulation on the previous Friday and again on the Thursday before the date. You should be able to make a reservation first of all. Hotels have been practically empty since COVID. Still, you should obviously research nearby love hotels in case you can’t get a room. To avoid even a moment’s hesitation, familiarize yourself with the route to the love hotel by the day before. Choosing a route where you won’t be seen by many people is also basic consideration so the woman doesn’t feel embarrassed. I like to be perfectly prepared every time, so I always run through the simulation. I even do it for dates with my monthly arrangement partner. Sometimes a woman you normally only have dinner with will invite you to have an adult relationship that day, so I prepare for that possibility too. I guess the papas who offer low allowances are the ones who skip this kind of preparation... A loser man
