If you don’t give anything in return, it’s zero, but giving something back might make it a small plus—though I’m not talking about allowance.
Why not give them some sweets or something, even if it isn’t expensive, with a casual “I went here, so I got you this”? If that helps ease your feelings even a little, I think it’s a good idea.
