Do you all do papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Are there papas (male supporters) who want to book a dinner on Christmas Eve?
Would it make them suspicious if I turned down a Christmas Eve date?

Just thinking about meeting someone on Christmas Eve is horrifying.
Everywhere you look, there are couples; the relentless push for a “special” experience; and the media hyping it up as if you have to enjoy yourself.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer.
We’ll probably order KFC and pizza, have a toast together—my wife and I with Lemon-Dō, and my daughter with juice. Something like that, I guess. I’m really looking forward to it.
Restaurants and hotels are crowded, and going out for fun at Christmas could make your family suspicious. I don’t take high-risk actions when the risks are already high.

I really can’t understand why papas want to go on dates on Christmas Eve or on a woman’s birthday.
That goes against papa-katsu etiquette, doesn’t it?
Why would they do something women obviously don’t want...? Of course she wants to spend that time with her boyfriend...

For most men, I don’t think events are that important. They don’t matter to me either.
That said, I’m sure some men do pay attention to them or become suspicious. Giving a reasonable explanation when you turn someone down might help reduce their suspicions.
