I can’t let go of my resentment toward other people. How can I become kinder at heart? I keep remembering and resenting the unpleasant male members I’ve met through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan). It’s exhausting.

Once something good happens afterward, it won’t matter to you anymore. Keep moving forward so that good things can happen. Your future can change depending on your own choices and the way you approach things. Marika

I’m Dai, a male member. When it comes to an unpleasant papa (a male supporter), the best thing you can do is forget him. Learn how to act as though he never existed at all.

I’m Kamihikoki, a male member. If something unpleasant or painful has happened to you, it’s only natural to feel resentment. You don’t have to hold it in—it’s important to allow yourself to feel anger and hatred, too. I believe you can use those experiences as motivation or fuel for your rebellious spirit. You should also give yourself credit for everything you’ve endured. I hope that, someday, something will start going well for you, and that you’ll be able to turn those feelings into the energy to do something positive. I don’t think people can truly become open-minded unless they build up small successes and things that bring them satisfaction. Until that day comes, whether it’s rebellious spirit or anything else, I hope you can generate enough powerful energy to use as fuel. Eventually, I believe there will come a day when you start to feel that you owe even the unpleasant experiences you’ve been through for helping you get there.

I’m Maezawa from the CEO’s office, and I’ll answer as well. I think that if you enter into a relationship with a papa (a male supporter) only after genuinely agreeing to the terms, you won’t end up resenting him later. If you’re putting up with a low allowance, though, that may be what’s turning into resentment. To avoid regretting it later, I recommend agreeing to an arrangement with the allowance you want—an amount you can genuinely be satisfied with. I don’t think you should force yourself to continue a relationship you’re unhappy with.

I’m Joe, a male member. I really like this question because it feels so human. First, please affirm yourself. The fact that you’re worrying about this so much already shows how kind you are. As others have said, there’s a good chance that time will heal things. However, it’s also possible that those feelings of resentment may not go away for more than 10 years. Since you’re probably young, 10 years may sound like a very long time. Still, I hope you’ll keep in mind that it may take a while. Doesn’t that alone make things feel just a little easier and help you look forward? This may not be much of an answer, but you don’t need to force yourself to stop feeling resentful. I hope you’ll spend each day affirming yourself and believing that, in time, things will get better.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I think spending time and energy thinking about a loser is a waste. If you just leave it alone, you’ll probably stop thinking about them before long.

I’m Aya, a female member. You don’t have to become kind-hearted again. It’s okay to keep resenting those men forever. I went through a similar phase for a while, but in the end, I felt that the wounds inflicted by men could only be healed by men. So I think it might be best to find a more generous (well-paying), kind papa and be happy. Or get a boyfriend. If you live happily day by day, time will eventually heal you.
