On a first date, if the male member chooses alcohol, I order alcohol too. But if he gets to the restaurant first and is already drinking a soft drink, would it be better for me to order a soft drink as well?
He always tells me to drink whatever I like, but I overthink it and end up ordering plum wine. Would that be a bother?

I’m not good with alcohol, so I always stick to soft drinks. That’s why I’m totally fine with a woman having doburoku or whatever she likes.

If he tells you, “Have whatever you like,” it means you don’t need to worry about matching his choice, so I don’t think you need to order a soft drink just because he is.
That said, if he hasn’t said anything or you haven’t gotten to know each other yet, it may be safest to choose something similar.
Still, I doubt anyone would think much of it over a drink. And if a man is bothered by something that minor, being involved with him might be difficult anyway.
Generally speaking, when a man is drinking alcohol, he may want the woman to drink as well. But when he’s having a soft drink, I think most men are fine with her choosing either one.

Men may avoid drinking because it can affect what happens afterward. I’ve had trouble performing after drinking since I was younger, so I limit myself to one drink.
In your case, I wouldn’t mind at all if the woman drank.

If he told you to order whatever you like to drink, I don’t think there’s any problem with ordering alcohol. Like Marika said, I’d rather you choose what you want than force yourself to match my order.

If they told you, “Have whatever you like to drink,” then I think it’s fine to order whatever you want.
People who don’t drink probably feel bad making someone who does drink hold back to accommodate them.
Some people can’t drink simply because they have a low tolerance, while others become unable to perform after drinking, so it’s better not to pressure them.
