The boyfriend I met here and dated for four years turned out to be married. I don’t know how to move on.

I think it’s important to remember that, no matter how attracted you are to a man you meet here, the allowance is still the basis of the relationship. If he says he wants something genuinely romantic, he should also cut ties with everyone else and be prepared to commit. There are far too many unfair, pseudo-“serious relationships” where only the woman ends up getting nothing. Akari

Maezawa from the executive office here—I’ll answer too. > The boyfriend I was dating ??? So, does that mean you were intimate without receiving an allowance? You thought he was your boyfriend, but it turned out you were actually his unpaid mistress...? After this experience, I think you should avoid seeing anyone without receiving an allowance. Even if you feel that you’ve become romantically involved, it might be better to keep receiving an allowance. I assume he was properly giving you an allowance at first. > I don’t know how to move on emotionally. If you still intend to continue seeing him, make sure you receive a proper allowance—around 100,000 yen per meeting. That might help you change your mindset. If he says he can’t pay that much, then I think he probably didn’t like you all that much to begin with. You were simply a woman he could be intimate with for free—meaning, anyone would have done. If he says he can’t pay, the relationship will be over anyway. After that, re-register with the club and find a good papa (a male supporter) this time.

I’m Flagmaker, a column writer. Seriously, though—let’s make men submit a copy of their family register before dating. Any man who isn’t willing to go that far is probably suspicious anyway.

I’m in Seattle. It’s strange that you didn’t realize it for four whole years. Maybe you were just pretending not to notice. Try finding a serious partner. Find another papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) arrangement. Threaten that boyfriend. Live for your hobbies. You only get one life, so enjoy it. Dwelling on negativity is a waste of time.

I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member. I think it would be best to take some time and create some distance to sort out your feelings. Also, while dating clubs only provide introductions, some people do make clever use of that reality. Even if the clubs aren’t directly involved, I believe they should have a system that can offer some kind of guidance, and that members on both sides need to carefully assess one another.

I’m Ayase Nana☆ If you met him through here, then you must have received an offer from Universe and gotten to know him there. Did you know that at the very bottom of a man’s profile, it says that the information is self-reported? You were told he was unmarried and took that at face value, didn’t you? You still have a lot to learn. You shouldn’t trust people so easily—especially on dating apps or through dating clubs. Being deceived doesn’t mean it’s your fault. The person who lied is at fault too. Are you still quite young, by any chance? I’m sorry to say this about him, but go ahead and hate that boyfriend of yours… Then use him as a stepping stone toward your next relationship. Become an even better woman and get even more wonderful offers. I’ll be looking forward to it☆

I’m Dai, a male member. It sounds like this man wanted a friends-with-benefits relationship that he could call “dating” so he wouldn’t have to pay you an allowance. There’s no need to overthink how to move on—it’s up to you to decide what you want. Do you want to continue this friends-with-benefits relationship, return to being a kept lover who receives an allowance, or end things with him and move on to someone else...?
