Could “esthetician” in women’s profiles possibly be a euphemism for something? There seem to be far too many of them…

Representative Kida here. Searching the members’ site for “esthetician” brings up around 50 women in Tokyo. 50 out of 2,400—that’s about 2% overall, or 2 out of every 100 women. Our company has around 50 female employees, and only one of them worked as an esthetician in her previous job, so I’d say this figure is probably about right. That said, this is purely speculation, but it’s possible that some women who describe themselves as estheticians may actually be: - Working at a men’s esthetics salon - Working at an aroma massage salon offering extra services - Working at an adult entertainment venue with a massage concept - Adult entertainers who are good at massages or shoulder rubs I don’t think there are many, but we can’t completely rule it out. If we start questioning things like that, we’d also have to wonder whether a woman who lists “office worker” as her occupation might actually work at a concept-based adult entertainment venue themed around female teachers. I’m truly sorry, but please consider the information to be only as accurate as the member’s own self-reporting, and make your judgment based on her other profile details as well. ※To all staff: If someone works at a men’s esthetics salon that offers “extra services,” please list her occupation as “men’s esthetics salon staff” rather than “esthetician.” This isn’t meant to discriminate; it’s simply for clarity.
