I’m new to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
Should I pay for my own tea when we have our first meeting?
I’ve only just started papa-katsu and don’t really know how things work. Until now, in regular dating and when going out with guys my own age, splitting the bill was the norm.
Since this is papa-katsu, it feels a little strange for me to pay, but then again, it’s our first meeting, so I’m wondering whether it would be better for us to be equals. I’m not sure.
What do you all usually do?

I assume you’re talking about a first meeting arranged through an app or something similar. Normally, even for a first meeting, the woman receives money from the man.
In most cases, profiles also say that the man is expected to cover the date expenses. So as long as that’s clearly stated, I don’t think the woman needs to pay.
With Universe, the club arranges the first date.
The two of you are expected to have a meal, and the man is required to give the woman ¥5,000–¥10,000 at that time.
I don’t think it was explicitly stated how the meal bill should be handled, but my understanding is that the man generally pays. Perhaps that was explained when he joined.
Even if it wasn’t, in dating clubs it’s basically common knowledge that the man pays.

Normally, the man pays. As far as I can remember, I’ve never split the bill—not even when going on dates with women around my age.
As an aside, I think it would be amusing if a woman in the E category offered to split the bill for tea.
