I’ve been a male member for a year and a half. In my experience, 97% of the female members aged 19–36 have had VIO hair removal. I used to get turned on by completely hairless women, but lately, when I watch adult videos featuring women with body hair, I find myself envious. However, if it’s too jungle-like, I feel I might run into a Manchurian Incident, although I haven’t encountered one so far. But besides hygiene, is there any other reason? Is it simply a trend? I only trim mine myself. I’d like to have my beard removed, though. I feel women may be falling right into the hands of the hair-removal industry’s marketing. What do you think?

I’m Nana Ayase, a female member. From a hygiene perspective, having body hair during your period can feel unclean. Also, when you need care in the future, it’s cleaner and less likely to cause irritation if both men and women have no body hair.

Maezawa from the CEO’s office here, answering as well. > I used to get turned on by completely hairless women. I feel like that’s part of the answer. Maybe it’s because their boyfriend said he liked it, or because grooming is such a hassle. I think that’s why more women are getting medical hair removal. It also feels like it originally started with the idea that men preferred women without body hair. Even men who say they prefer some hair can be picky, saying they don’t like it when it’s too thick. When you consider the effort of trimming the hair down there every time, hair removal may seem like the better option. > I’d like to get my beard removed, though. It seems like you, the person asking the question, may also be falling right into the hair-removal industry’s marketing strategy. Come to think of it, beard removal is really popular these days. Maybe both men and women are being influenced by the hair-removal industry’s marketing—and then convincing themselves that their choices are completely legitimate.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Um, what was your question? I think hygiene is a major factor. Especially for women, since menstrual blood is involved during their periods, those who use pads may find hair removal much more comfortable. By the way, I’ve also had my VIO area waxed. I’d feel bad asking someone to go down on a hairy scrotum or anus.
