When I discussed the allowance for an adult relationship with a woman I met, I was considering 4 for her and explained that to her. However, she told me, “All the women at Universe Club only consider offers starting at 5. When we have our initial interview to join the club, the staff tell us to negotiate for 5 or more.” Is 5 really the minimum, and is what the staff told her actually true?

I’m Maezawa from the President’s Office, and I’ll answer this as well. > Is what the staff member said actually true? I think the first thing to do is find out which staff member said it. If you don’t know the person’s name but were told this during the interview, it should be easy to find out who conducted your interview. (The man should probably know, too.) Then all you have to do is ask the branch directly about it. Basically, staff members don’t discuss allowances, and I don’t think they would say something like, “The minimum is this much.” They know that allowances vary depending on the man, and it’s normal for the amount to differ even for the same man, depending on the woman. If you think, “This woman is amazing. I’ll regret it if I let this opportunity pass,” then it’s perfectly normal to offer her requested allowance, even if it’s a little high. To take it a step further, some men may even offer more than she requested as a strategy to outbid their rivals. So when someone talks about a fixed minimum amount, it comes across as a little inexperienced. They probably got the number from the fact that “5” is often written in the question box. But here’s the real issue. Regardless of what reason the woman gave, focusing on whether it’s true or not is rather petty. The woman is asking for 5. So all that matters is whether you’re willing to offer 5 or not. There’s no doubt that 5 is what she wants. And yet, the fact that you’re focusing on something unrelated to the real issue makes me think, “Ah, this is probably someone who hasn’t had much success in the past either.” Maybe it was your first date after joining, but if so, you should have offered the woman’s requested amount and treated it as a learning experience. I think you should decide how much allowance to offer only after dating various women and learning about the amounts they want and what they’re looking for. You need to observe women more and think about what you can do to make them like you. That’s what really matters. The reason doesn’t matter. Think about what the woman is actually looking for.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. I don’t think the club itself has anything to say about this, but since people are talking about “five” in various places, I assume this means, “I’m okay with five, too.” To avoid mismatches, maybe it would be better to mention it in your profile when making an offer—for example, “Please don’t apply if you’re looking for five”—depending on the other person. If an offer is rejected, you could just make offers to one woman after another. Some women may understand and accept. I imagine this is good news for women who don’t receive many offers.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. There’s absolutely no rule that it has to be 50,000 yen or more. The staff would never bring up the allowance. If the club mentioned a specific allowance, it could potentially violate Japan’s Anti-Prostitution Law. Some women try to negotiate by bringing up other people, saying things like, “My friend gets…” or “Someone at the club told me…” At first, I used to think, “I guess that’s just how it works,” and go along with it. These days, I simply say, “Then I’ll pass,” and don’t entertain it. You’re you, and other people are other people. Stand firm in your own decisions.

I’m Kazu, a male member. I’m almost certain the staff never tell you the amount of the allowance. If someone advised you that way, they may have been the affiliate who introduced you to Universe. Though I don’t think affiliates are present at the interview.
