Would you fall for me if I sang Hikaru Utada’s “Two Hours of Vacation”? Would that be too much?

I’ll have our staff member Ishibashi answer as well! Hikaru Utada’s songs are all pretty challenging, so I think it would look really cool if you could sing one! Personally, more than the lyrics themselves, I’d first think, “Wow, you can sing that? That’s cool!”

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member who’s tone-deaf and can’t even sing along with the lyrics. I often hear love songs at karaoke that make me think, “Does she really like me that much?”—and seem to put her in a good mood. But it has nothing to do with things progressing or continuing; she’s simply singing a song she likes. I’m used to it, so I don’t get excited or read anything into it. I think it’s perfectly fine to sing songs by the Akimoto groups, Vocaloid songs, anime songs, or whatever you like.

I’m in Seattle. I gave it a listen. Depending on how you interpret it, it could sound like a song about papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) or an affair. It’s not too heavy, but I don’t think it’s quite enough to make me fall for it. If the singer had performed on Kohaku, though, I might.
