Before worrying about the effort it takes the other person to reply, apologize first. That seems to be the basic rule. And if there were unavoidable circumstances, explain them properly. If you have proof, I think you should provide that as well. For example, if you were involved in a traffic accident. In that case, the club has no way of knowing whether it’s true or not. When we can’t tell, we have no choice but to assume it’s a lie. So if you were injured and hospitalized, for instance, you could send several photos of yourself in the hospital with your injuries bandaged, along with details such as: “I ended up being hospitalized in Room ○ at ○○ Hospital.” If you provide that level of detail, we could even call the hospital to confirm whether you’re actually there. (Whether we would or not is another matter.) That would establish that you really were hospitalized because of a traffic accident, and we’d understand that you couldn’t get in touch because you had been taken away by ambulance or something similar.

I’m Takei, one of the staff members. Some applicants cancel their interviews without notice. There are also people who cancel several times before finally making it to the interview. From the interviewer’s perspective, when we see that history, our honest thought is, “They might cancel on their dates too.” That said, unavoidable cancellations can happen to anyone. I think things may look different if you apply again and explain during the interview why you had to cancel. If you pass the interview and then cancel an actual date, your rating may drop. The men also take the time to make arrangements through the club, so it causes them inconvenience. A habit of canceling is something you have to overcome at some point. If you genuinely feel that you’ll keep any date you commit to, please come in for the interview. I used to have a habit of canceling myself, but I stopped once I realized that I was taking up other people’s time. Please give it some thought!
