What makes someone feel special to me is, first and foremost, compatibility—personality, intimate compatibility, and so on.
The other thing is drama. When you first meet, you’re both on your best behavior, right? You don’t show your true feelings or your real selves. But when some kind of trouble or complication comes up, your true nature tends to show. That’s when I might think, “I really like this person,” or, “No, this isn’t going to work.” I feel like that’s a pretty big factor.
So I don’t think everything should be too predictable. It could end badly, sure, but you have to throw in an unexpected curveball and shake things up a little.
