I prefer men who don’t use social media at all, so the moment the conversation turns to things like keeping tabs on me, I lose interest…
Maybe it’s generational, but I’ve had so many unpleasant experiences on social media and anonymous message boards since high school that I’ve had enough. I barely use social media anymore.
So when a man my age is still interested in that sort of thing, I can’t help feeling, “We’re probably not a good match.”

A long time ago, I exchanged email addresses with a girl, and apparently Facebook used that information without permission. She showed up under “People You May Know,” and I ended up seeing everything—including her real name and the boyfriend she was dating. It made things awkward, so we stopped seeing each other. She later got married and then divorced.
In that sense, maybe there was room for us to continue alongside each other, but when someone already has a boyfriend when you meet her, I just feel like I shouldn’t get involved in that kind of thing.

I don’t use social media, so I’m not interested in it at all.
That said, the women I’m close with show me their social media, I enjoy home-cooked meals at their places, and I do end up learning about it as the relationship develops.

I know the social media accounts of some of the women I see, but basically, I try not to ask. I mean, wouldn’t it be creepy if someone you’re seeing asked you to give them your social media account? I’d find it creepy if a woman asked me, too.
That said, apparently there are some men who ask for it on the first date. The women they’re seeing find it creepy.
It could potentially become a reason to end the relationship. For example, an exclusivity-minded man who says, “I want you all to myself,” might get angry after spotting signs of other men on a woman’s social media.
If anything, I think women sometimes carelessly share their accounts, then regret it because it becomes difficult to cut things off later.
