What’s the longest you’ve ever maintained a relationship with someone of the opposite sex? I feel like the men registered here, especially, tend to get bored easily. Has anyone ever stayed in a relationship for more than 10 years? I guess that’s probably impossible for a man who does papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan)...

I’m Saito, a columnist♪ It’s been 10 years with another dating club, actually. She’s married now, has children, and is working hard running her own company. There’s no physical relationship—we mostly talk about work, get spa treatments together, and then go our separate ways. She has children, so an allowance is necessary as well.

I’m Paper Airplane, a male member. If you make offers to 100 women, you may meet one person—just 1%—who’s truly compatible with you. And if, out of roughly 200 women, each of those 100 offers was made to the one person you chose, then you’ve effectively found one person out of 100 × 200 = 20,000. Maybe you can’t let go of a woman like that so easily.

I’m Maezawa from the president’s office, and I’ll answer this one too. Thank you for your question. It’s not that people register because they get bored easily. I think many of them simply enjoy getting to know women and building connections with different people. If anything, it seems more common for women to graduate from papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) after achieving their goals, or because they’ve found a new goal in life. (Though, of course, not every woman is like that.) Also, rather than being easily bored, some men who are specifically looking for youth may prefer shorter relationships. With so many different kinds of people, maintaining a long-term relationship can be difficult—not only in papa-katsu, but in conventional romance as well.

I’m だて◎ゆめ, a male member. In my case, it’s been three years, but over ten years, each person’s living situation is bound to change, so I’m not sure how realistic that would be. The women are young, but since their papa is generally older, who knows whether the relationship would last. That said, I told her from the beginning, “I’ll support you for two or three years,” so I see this relationship as providing stable financial support while she’s struggling financially. Once her income becomes stable, she may get a boyfriend or get married. If that happens, I’d want her to move forward with her new partner. The question is, what if that partner never appears...?
