I have no idea how to meet men who aren’t involved in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
My university has been online the whole time, so I’m looking for ways to meet people outside of school.
I can barely drink alcohol for health reasons, so I’m wondering if it would be weird to go to a bar.
Where do couples actually meet and fall in love...? Please tell me...
Also, if you know any recommended places in Kansai, I’d love to hear about them.

It’s true—women always want to feel those butterflies, right? I used to believe that if I kept saying, “I want a boyfriend,” I’d never actually get one, so I waited for the right time…!
Then, unexpectedly, it turned into a workplace romance. So while it’s great to actively look for someone, there’s also something nice about waiting♪ (It wasn’t at my current company!)

Not long ago, I think people met through things like group dates, but I wonder what it’s like these days.
When it comes to online dating, Pairs seems to focus on romantic connections and actively removes people looking for money, so I get the impression that many people still meet through Pairs.
That said, it’s impossible to eliminate them completely, and since it’s difficult to verify someone’s identity online, there are bound to be some bad actors.
You could also end up being deceived, so it may be best to use it with caution.

In any case, if you get out and about, attending events, lectures, job-hunting info sessions, and so on, simply putting yourself in situations where a man is sitting next to you or nearby for about five minutes could create an opportunity to connect.
I actually dated a girl I happened to sit next to like that when I was a student. We met for just a few minutes that day.
You never know where a miraculous encounter might happen.
These days, it’s also quite common to become close with someone you met through a gaming group, although in most cases it probably won’t develop into a relationship between a man and a woman…
If you’re looking for somewhere in Kansai where you’re likely to get approached, Sannomiya Center Street is a good option—it’s not overly crowded.
