I’m Flag Maker, a column writer.
For some reason, blurred photos catch my attention. I’ve even made offers to several blurred profiles in a row.
I recommend using a blurred photo rather than no photo at all.

Since about 98% of them show their faces, blurring your face might just be a waste of time if you don’t have any distinctive features.

Thank you for your question.
As you said, I believe I previously explained that without showing your face, you generally won’t receive offers unless you have some distinctive feature.
However, considering that some women would be more willing to come in for an interview if they didn’t have to show their faces, we changed our policy a little while ago to allow registration without showing your face.
So if you prefer not to show your face, you can register that way.
That said, our staff still sometimes explain out of habit that you’re more likely to receive offers if you show your face.
But that’s only an explanation. If you then say, “I’d like to register without showing my face, please,” you’ll be registered that way, so there’s no need to worry.
Addendum
There are three options for registering without showing your face:
① Blurred photos
Your full body, entire face, or part of your face—such as the eyes or mouth—will be blurred on the members-only page. Clear photos will be shown only to men who inquire about you. Since your face will be revealed to men who are interested in you, this option makes it very easy to appeal to them.
② Back-view or profile photos
Photos will mainly be taken from the side or from behind. Since there are no photos of your face, having a good figure is important. Other than your clothing and physique, there’s no need to worry about being identified.
③ No photos
No photos will be posted. Since there’s very little information for men to base their decision on, the interview screening will also be stricter. You’ll need strong appeal and considerable effort to receive offers.
Apparently, the only people who can successfully choose option ③ are famous models or celebrities who also appear in magazines and similar media.
In general, I recommend choosing either ① or ②.

There isn’t really a strict standard. If you prefer not to show your face, we can blur it, use angles that keep your face out of view, or accommodate you in other ways as needed.
That said, one downside of not showing your face is that men are generally making offers based on the photos they see, so your offer rate may decrease.
I imagine the interviewer recommended showing your face because, since you were taking the time to register, they wanted to help you receive as many offers as possible.
If you’re still concerned about being identified, how about keeping your face hidden on the members-only site and allowing it to be shown only to men who are genuinely considering making an offer?
Thank you for your consideration.
