I’m Kazu, a male member. I thought about dying during my teenage years, but I haven’t felt that way since. Let’s make money. If you work hard to earn money, you’ll find yourself thinking about little else besides how to make more. And when you have money, you can keep busy enjoying yourself, so you won’t have as much time to dwell on things. Once you’ve earned a decent amount and had your fun, you’ll eventually get tired of it and realize that happiness can’t simply be bought with money. That’s where life truly begins.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer. When I’m feeling that way, I sing Naotaro Moriyama’s “If Living Is Painful” by myself, reminding myself that dying wouldn’t really mean much—the impact on those around me would be far less than I imagine. Then I do whatever I can before I die, like crying and screaming by myself. Death may be a last resort, but in the end, the only ones who would grieve are my family. The people who drove me to it would hardly be sad, and even after I died, the world would keep turning as usual—people sleeping, eating, and going to work. I remind myself that, ultimately, my death wouldn’t mean that much. And somehow, I’m still managing to live.

I’m in Seattle. I’ve never felt like I wanted to die. If I ever do, I’ll get some Depas from a primary care doctor and take it as soon as possible.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. Try searching online for “suicide prevention center.” You’ll find the phone number for a counseling service. First, talk to someone.
