I have a question about Mac’s post (https://universe-club.jp/help/questions/view/4618). When it comes to being defrauded of ¥100,000 or ¥200,000, I can understand it to some extent, but being tricked out of ¥1 million seems like the woman has to bear some responsibility too. It seems no different from the stories you occasionally see in the news, such as “An 80-year-old man is defrauded of ¥10 million by a fake adult website” or “A man in his 60s falls victim to a marriage scam by a Thai woman in her 20s.” There was a feature on papa-katsu scams on a late-night TV show called “Jikkuri Kiitaろう,” which introduced a tactic where the scammer shows the woman a (fake) stock investment simulation screen and convinces her by saying, “See? You can make this much money just by operating a computer screen, without doing papa-katsu.” As I watched it, I couldn’t help thinking that putting tens of thousands of yen into stock investments on the spot, despite how heavily they depend on the investor’s skill, timing, and luck, was even more reckless for an amateur. For example, if someone was forcibly penetrated without protection at a hotel, or was told, “I’ll give you ¥50,000 later,” had an adult relationship, and then never received the ¥50,000 that was supposed to be paid afterward, I do think they should speak up as victims. However, once we’re talking about amounts in the hundreds of thousands or millions of yen, all I can think is, “Congratulations on enduring that extreme masochistic play.” Am I being too heartless? (^^;)
