I’m “Paper Airplane,” a male club member. Like “Confused Man in His 60s,” I was wondering, “What’s going on??” But now I understand that it was related to how the posts are displayed. With this many questions, I imagine it must be a lot of work for the staff to respond. And if they’re trying to write model answers without upsetting either the questioner or the readers, I don’t think they can exactly write freely. Honestly, readers probably don’t need staff responses that feel like they’re just trying to keep everyone happy. Wouldn’t it be better to prioritize switching to a system where questions are displayed without staff answers? The whole point of the question box, as I see it, is not to present the club’s official perspective, but to hear the honest opinions of actual club users. Different types of answers can offer different insights, and some may even apply directly to the reader. With that in mind, staff responses would have to be as candid and incisive as Maezawa’s to qualify as model answers. If the staff responses are overly softened and focused on keeping people happy, readers are likely to feel disappointed. After all, the dating-club world itself is a place where people take off the sugarcoating. Once there’s a decent variety of answers, I think questioners and readers would prefer to see them posted one after another—even if the club simply selects one or two answers it particularly wants people to read and displays the rest at random.

Dear Lost-in-Your-60s, This is Joe, the column writer. I had assumed that respondents were given a show/hide button, and that once they posted an answer, they had both the right and the responsibility to decide whether it would be displayed. However, according to Mac, it seems that this right and responsibility are not granted to every respondent. Since the club holds the copyright and editorial rights, I believe the show/hide function should likewise be limited to the club. Thank you for raising this issue. Needless to say, the final decision rests with the club, and I will respect and follow its judgment.
