As with this question itself, I think it’s important to show consideration so you don’t make the other person feel uneasy.
If you interpret things in whatever way suits you and then act on that assumption, you may end up with a response like Maezawa-san’s.
I feel like I may have experienced something similar to what you’re describing, but I don’t think it was because he wanted me to go to his room—it seemed to be out of some other consideration.

I’ll answer assuming this is a question from a man.
First of all, going straight to a hotel is absolutely not allowed. Meeting in front of a love hotel and going straight inside, or meeting at a station and heading directly to a hotel room, is prohibited.
You could even be banned from the service.
For example, you can go to a restaurant where the other person eats while you don’t.
There are a few tricks, but they aren’t really something to write about here.

Of course, I think that’s perfectly fine, but I do feel that sharing a meal and talking together is very important for building a sense of connection and rapport.
You can also check things like table manners during the meal, so in my case, I never skip it.
