I’m Flag Maker, a column writer.
Whether it’s conversation or an adult relationship (intimate), I enjoy thinking about how well I can navigate things on the other person’s turf and whether I can send them home satisfied. I mess up or make the wrong comment every time, so there’s always something to reflect on—and that’s what makes it fun.
I’ll think, “Hmm, maybe they like this kind of angle and this level of teasing?” and try a joke, only for it to be completely ignored, leaving me thinking, “Wait, that’s not it?!” Or I’ll focus every nerve like sonar, trying to figure out what makes them respond, and end up panicking: “I seriously have no idea…”
