I’m going on an overnight trip with my papa (a male supporter) soon. About how much allowance do you think I should expect? He asked me what I’d like, but it’s my first time, so I have no idea and I’m struggling to answer.

I think it’s best to tell him the amount you’re hoping for. For a one-night, two-day trip, you’d normally ask for two pay-per-meeting allowances. But if you’re close with your papa (a male supporter) and would like to travel with him, and it wouldn’t be a burden, you could tell him that one allowance is enough. He may invite you on another trip.

Probably 50,000–100,000 yen, adjusted based on the papa’s wealth and how unpleasant he is.

Why focus only on the allowance? If you get to go wherever you want, eat whatever you like, have plenty of free time, and take home lots of souvenirs, then perhaps it could be worth it even with no allowance. If being with the other person is unbearable, why not simply calculate it at an hourly rate of ¥10,000?

There’s no way for us to know how much a complete stranger might offer as an allowance. Personally, I always pay the same amount as usual. For example, if it’s ¥50,000 pay-per-meeting, then it’s ¥50,000 for the entire trip, whether it’s a day trip or lasts several nights. When I travel with someone I’m seeing for the first time, I make a point of asking in advance how she feels about the allowance. I’m often told that since she’s being taken on a trip, she doesn’t need an allowance, but I’ve never been asked for anything more than that. Even when she says she doesn’t need an allowance, I still give her one. That said, if she asked for more, I’d probably decline the trip altogether.

I think it’s better to wait until you’ve built a little more trust before going on a trip together. If you’re going with someone while worrying about the amount of your allowance, you probably won’t be able to enjoy the trip that much… If you’re genuinely enjoying the trip, you won’t even be thinking about an adult relationship or the allowance. The time will fly by before you know it. You can have an adult relationship and receive your allowance during your usual meetings, so I think going somewhere farther away or taking a trip can feel special because you’re not focused on those same things. If you’re both able to enjoy yourselves in that kind of mood, things will naturally heat up, and you’ll probably feel satisfied with the allowance too… From the woman’s perspective, if she’s enjoying the trip, there’ll be so many places she wants to go and things she wants to do that she won’t even think about making time for an adult relationship—it would almost feel like a waste. The fun time will just fly by. With someone you can enjoy that kind of time with, the whole trip will pass in an instant, and you’ll probably have a great time no matter what you do, including an adult relationship.

A papa (a male supporter) who listens to what you want sounds like a good one to me. Why not simply answer with the allowance you’d be comfortable with? Of course, I understand that asking for too much might put him off, while asking for too little might leave you feeling dissatisfied. Even so, I think it’s better to tell him an allowance that you’d be comfortable with—one you wouldn’t regret and could actually enjoy. If he says that won’t work, then he was that kind of person to begin with. You don’t need to force yourself.
