We had plans to meet, but he canceled and said he’d contact me again. We’ve had a monthly arrangement for about five months—do you think he might be trying to end things soon?? I really like him, so this hurts.

Did you have any regrets about the sex the last time you met? Maybe you didn’t put in your full effort, couldn’t make her come, or didn’t stay close afterward. The papas here always have new potential partners, so if you let your guard down and fail to satisfy them, they’ll move on to another woman who treats them better. The same goes for men, though—if you don’t value a good woman, another papa offering better terms will take her away…

Once the plans are canceled and they say, “I’ll contact you,” without even discussing the next day, I’d say that’s a definite sign. And around six months is about the point when these things tend to happen. It’s almost painfully familiar. You really can’t let your guard down for the first six months to a year, can you? I vaguely remember someone saying that until the one-year mark, you should keep your partner’s… *thing* up so much that there’s no time for any warning signs to pop up. Maybe not. Maybe. That said, they might still contact you. But even if they do, it could just be a moment of confusion after they’ve cooled off. Either way, don’t get your hopes up. If you’re still interested, maybe send a casual LINE message after a month and leave your line in the water for a while. Otherwise, I think it’s better to move on and focus on the next person. Taro

Maybe you stood him up before, couldn’t meet on a day that worked for him because you had other plans, or had a disagreement when you met. Could something like that have happened? I can’t know how he feels, but I think you may still have one more chance. So try not to let it slip away: if he invites you out, make an effort to adjust your schedule, and when you meet, focus on making him want to see you again. That’s probably the mindset to have.

Is it really fun to use an anonymous Q&A box to make people guess how someone feels? Maybe they’ve found someone else they like better and aren’t as interested in meeting right now. Maybe they’re busy, short on money, or sick. There are all kinds of possibilities, but no one knows what will happen from here—or what that person will decide to do—so even if you ask, there’s really nothing I can say.
