A question for the men here: I know it may seem a little late, but I’m considering getting the HPV vaccine (Gardasil 4) to help prevent oropharyngeal cancer.
Has anyone here received the vaccine after reaching their late 40s?
Besides the peace of mind from having been vaccinated, did you notice any other benefits? I’d also like to hear about any side effects you experienced.
I’m not quite in my late 40s, but…
I got the hepatitis B vaccine beforehand, though I haven’t had the HPV vaccine. Now that you mention it, I’m starting to think I should go get it.

It wasn’t around the time I turned 50, but I did get vaccinated.
Since it’s a vaccine, I believe the only real benefit is that it can reduce the risk.
I don’t particularly remember any side effects. The pain or swelling must have been mild enough not to leave much of an impression.

I’ve looked into it quite a bit because I was thinking of going to get it. However, I’ve decided to hold off for now, since I read that the older you are, the harder it is to develop immunity and the less effective it becomes.
I’d like to read more answers here.
If you’re 26 or younger, I’d definitely recommend getting it.
