If a man sends you an offer through Universe Club, can you decline it? Do you need to give a reason for turning down an offer, or are you required to accept the first offer you receive after registering?

Women have the right to choose in papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), so if you want to turn something down, don’t hesitate to say no. That said, club staff are only human too, so it’s better to explain your reasons clearly and keep things amicable. That can also help ensure your profile is presented more favorably going forward, so keep that in mind.

I’ve been turned down once too. It was because of my occupation. The staff will probably ask you why you declined, so they can explain the reason if the man asks. If you’re the kind of woman who turns men down without giving a reason, the staff may well see you as someone they can’t confidently recommend to men.

I’ve been turned down before! The staff told me, “She said she didn’t think you two would be a good match after looking at your profile” (lol). Well, I knew there’d be mixed opinions, so no hard feelings. Actually, any woman willing to meet me with this profile picture is a bona fide ideal supporter in my book. And since she’s basically a goddess, when I worship her by saying “Nammaida,” it apparently sounds to women like, “How many bills?”—so they usually tell me a number. —Taro

You don’t have to accept it. I’ve heard women say they turned down an offer, and men say they were turned down as well. When declining an offer, I think it’s in your own best interest to explain why. People who reject offers without giving a reason may come across as lacking cooperation, so the staff probably won’t feel inclined to support them or recommend them to men. The staff pay quite a bit of attention to members’ personalities.

I think you should be able to turn it down. If your schedules don’t work out in the first place, you’ll have no choice but to decline. Universe Club shouldn’t force you into anything, at least in principle.
