Why are “pure and wholesome” types so popular with older men?

For the sake of appealing to older guys, I grow my hair long, regularly dye it black before the color starts fading, wear modest, wholesome-looking clothes, and stick to harmless small talk to make money. But I honestly don’t understand what they find so appealing about this “pure” image. Besides, there are probably even fewer genuinely wholesome girls than gyaru, right? Even when they know it’s a carefully created image rather than someone being natural, does it still look attractive to them?

I think the desire for a demure, refined type may stem from the tendency of men who weren’t popular in school to feel intimidated by women who seemed to be at the top of the social hierarchy among the girls. Also, the pairing of an older guy and a gal really stands out—it looks so awkward that people around them can barely watch.

I think it’s wrong to assume that if someone isn’t gyaru-style, they must be the refined, demure type. There’s no way to classify people into just two categories. For example, there are black-haired gyaru too. I don’t really understand what’s so appealing about the refined, demure type either. But if I spend two hours talking with someone over our first meal and we can only make bland, harmless conversation, I don’t think there’s any future between us, so I just end things there.
