If you’re a man hoping to receive offers, I think adding comments will increase your chances.
What became a hassle for me was getting lots of comments from people I hadn’t favorited. It got tiring to read them all, so I eventually stopped.
But if a favorite woman had commented, I probably would have made an offer right away.
Everyone has their own opinion about things, so we can’t know what the other person thinks.
That said, a like is itself a way of showing interest, so if you’re going to send one, I think it’s better to include a message. Likes without a message, or with something that sounds like a template, come across to me as a scattershot approach, and don’t leave a good impression.
If you haven’t done many things like retaking your photos, renewing your arrangement, uploading private photos, or updating your comments, then simply saying “You look lovely” should be fine.
If it’s been more than a year, though, I think it would be better to add a comment. It would seem unnatural to retake your photos without leaving one.
If you don’t add a comment, they might take it as a lack of enthusiasm. On the other hand, they might see you as inexperienced, natural, or refreshingly genuine.
Adding a comment can come across as showing interest, but it might also make them think, “Wow, she accesses the site that often? She’s pretty used to this kind of activity.”
Most women probably don’t access the site that frequently, nor do they regularly update their photos or comments, so I don’t think they put that much effort into a simple “You look lovely.”
