Before the first meeting, I went to the hair salon, a cosmetic dermatology clinic, a slimming salon, got my nails done, had a lash lift, bought a new outfit, and had my hair styled and my makeup professionally done. Then I met him and received 50,000 yen, but I ended up stress-bingeing and purging repeatedly that day, followed by a trip to the massage parlor…
I’m not just breaking even—I’m actually in the red.
How do you all handle the expenses that come with dating?

Since I started papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), neither my spending nor my weight has increased. I simply bought now what I would have bought with my own salary a few years from now.
If the only spending is for first meetings, I think you can make it worthwhile by continuing.
If your reason for doing papa-katsu is money, the reason you ended up needing papa-katsu may also be related to that tendency to overspend.
I agree that if you’re running a deficit, you should quit.
To me, papa-katsu is simply a form of entertainment—meeting people and having fun.

Wow, you’re going that often?
You won’t lose weight from going to slimming treatments just once or twice—you have to put in consistent effort.
I only use a face mask at night to get ready for dates. As for clothes, I just wear what I already own.
When I’m on the train, I occasionally see girls whose outfits clearly scream that they’re off to a papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) date. They really stand out.

I’ve never been to a cosmetic clinic, either. I only get eyelash extensions once every three months, and I go to the hair salon maybe once every four years… I’ve never been to a spa, and I do my own nails.
A full hair-and-makeup package? What is this, a coming-of-age ceremony? I’ll do it myself… and I don’t binge and purge.
It’s not like I’m meeting them looking filthy or anything. I just mean that if you take care of yourself regularly, you don’t have to spend that much money just for the occasion.
As for clothes, it’s not that I never buy anything new. But I also wear clothes I already own, and since I wear them normally too, they aren’t just for that one meeting.
I think you can get ready without spending that much. Why not try doing it within the amount you receive, at least to start with?

If a company is operating at a loss with no prospect of increasing sales, it cuts costs and aims to become profitable.
Stop all the costly preparations, and look for a papa (a male supporter) who causes little or no stress.
