Doctors who work seriously don’t make that much.
That’s also why few doctors work at only one place.
People who got into medical school by paying extremely high tuition despite not having the grades often have money available beyond their salary, so they may look flashy.
That said, if a man wants to spend money, he will—so perhaps the questioner simply wasn’t seen that way…

First of all, how much someone earns and how much they’re willing to spend on you are two separate things.
On top of that, annual income and available assets are separate matters as well. As other respondents have mentioned, some people have inherited wealth from their parents. And if they run a private medical practice or another business—real estate is an easy example, though some people are involved in other fields too—they may be able to use business expenses in addition to their income.
Whether a business is thriving or not isn’t the only factor to consider, so you may end up losing out if you don’t assess the person from a broader range of angles.

Both private-practice doctors and hospital-employed doctors are great in their own ways, but when I see someone whose personality is completely different from how they usually are, I can’t help wondering if the stress is really getting to them.
Someone who had always been a papa (a male supporter?) worked incredibly hard, passed the exams, and became a resident at a large hospital.
I used to ask him every time, “Are you going to open your own practice someday?” At first, he’d say, “Absolutely!” But little by little, that turned into, “Yeah… probably not,” which I thought was refreshingly honest（笑）
Basically, being a private-practice doctor is tough.
I completely agree with Pota-san—it’s exactly as they said. How can you say anything when you don’t even know how difficult it is? (๑¯ㅁ¯๑)

It’s amazing that someone who doesn’t even seem to have a medical license can tell someone else not to call themselves a doctor.
Personally, I don’t think I’d want a woman who has no money, no class, no compassion, and no brains.
A brainless jellyfish would be way cuter.

I also met that university doctor on a matchmaking app before, and he told me he was able to become a doctor because his parents were wealthy.
I guess that’s part of why people have long associated doctors with having money.
I once met a hospital-employed doctor on the Shinkansen, and he sadly said that doctors don’t actually make that much money.
Well, compared with the average salaryman, he still earns plenty, though...
