I imagine many women in papa-katsu are asked why they want the money.
I’m considering doing papa-katsu to cover the cost of orthodontic treatment. Since I work in a public-facing job, I’d ideally like lingual braces, but even the cheapest option would cost around 1.5 million yen... I’m a low-paid office worker, so it’s difficult to save that much. I’m not getting any younger, so I’m starting to feel anxious.
I’m asking because I wonder whether men would be less willing to support me unless I had a solid goal, like “for my dream!”

Those kinds of lighthearted reasons are just right for me and make me feel comfortable.
All of my monthly arrangement partners are office workers. They seem to use their allowance for things like orthodontic treatment, beauty expenses, spending money, and car payments.
On the other hand, I don’t make offers to women with huge dreams, like starting their own business or studying abroad. I imagine they’d need a lot of money, and I don’t think I could handle that.

That may be your reason, and that’s fine, but I think it’s better not to go on and on about it to your papa.
As others have mentioned, you’ll definitely get a better reaction with either a sympathetic reason like, “I have a sick younger brother,” or something like, “I want a man to teach me all kinds of things♡”—the innocent-but-naughty type.

I don’t think the specific reason matters all that much. What’s important is whether he wants to support you.
I don’t see any problem with saying it’s for orthodontic treatment.

Hair removal and cosmetic dental work are probably the top two reasons people start papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan).
I spend quite a bit on beauty treatments too, including my teeth, so I completely understand where you’re coming from. It’s totally fine.
That said, saying you want to save money for your younger brother’s tuition is more likely to attract a simple papa (a male supporter) like me than saying you’re saving for braces.
Papas tell plenty of lies too, so don’t worry about it.

I think any reason is fine. Orthodontic treatment definitely costs a lot, so I don’t see a problem with it.

Quite a few women get braces. Over the past two years, two women I was seeing started orthodontic treatment after we began dating. My wife also had braces.
Just keep in mind that with lingual braces, performing oral sex isn’t possible. My wife had lingual braces.
