I’m not sure what it means to seek love from your parents, but I love my parents too and have always relied on them, so I’m nothing but grateful. I know they care about me, so I don’t feel the need to ask them for anything.
I’ve never really thought about my purpose in life, but maybe it’s simply to enjoy this one life we’re given.

Asking other people won’t make you feel fulfilled. Happiness is something you have to feel for yourself—it isn’t something others can give you. It seems the only way is to face yourself.
I grew up with overbearing parents and couldn’t wait to get away from them. Once I started working, became independent, and finally felt relieved, I found it hard to understand wanting parental love. Maybe I’m just a cold person（笑）
If you can earn enough to support yourself and freely do what you want, I feel like you can break free from that kind of emotional bondage.

I’ll only answer the first part of your question.
“Your purpose in life” is one of the great questions of philosophy, so there’s no way to figure it out easily. I certainly don’t know the answer either.
According to Aristotle, the ancient Greek philosopher often considered the greatest thinker in human history, the purpose of life is:
“Bringing your talents to fruition through effort.”
He summed this up in the concept of energeia.
※Energeia is the origin of the word “energy.”
I believe you can find happiness by setting out on a journey to discover your own talents, and once you find them, developing them through hard work.
That’s not just my opinion—Aristotle said it.
I want you to feel reassured. At the very least, this is a thoughtful and genuinely excellent question.

I believe each person decides their own purpose in life, so I don’t think not having a purpose makes you a failure.
I don’t know exactly how to feel fulfilled, but I think things may change somewhat once you learn to appreciate what you already have.

I’m Kazu, a male member.
There’s no set purpose to life, so I’ve chosen “learning and gaining knowledge” as mine. I think that’s the kind of thing people usually wrestle with around middle school.
Since you’re still thinking about this in your twenties, I feel you haven’t fully grown yet. Once you mature, I believe you’ll become an independent person.
