Maezawa from the CEO’s office here—I’ll answer too. I agree. I feel like there have been experiments like that. (There are probably quite a few.) I just searched for one, and found a video. The same woman drastically changes her makeup, then pretends her wallet was stolen and asks strangers for money. Apparently, when she’s wearing flattering makeup, everyone gives her money, but when she isn’t, no one does... Seeing it actually happen in the video is pretty astonishing. Still, it makes you wonder whether the difference is so dramatic because she’s asking people to “give” her money rather than asking to borrow it. There’s a lot more to it than you’d think. https://youtu.be/DC7hlqO5KjA

I’m Fuu, a column writer. That’s probably true. But with papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), being beautiful alone gets boring. I feel that enthusiasm for intimacy, personality, and thoughtfulness are also very important for keeping things going.

I’m Rin, a female SALON member. I think that’s probably true. And I’m sure you’re putting in the effort as well. First impressions really do matter, after all.

I’m Dai, a male member. Being beautiful is a talent in its own right. But for women who want to work at the same level as men, being beautiful may not feel like much of an advantage.

I’m Aya, a female member. That’s true. But unless you’re a breathtaking beauty like Fan Bingbing, most people need to work on themselves to become more attractive. In the end, those who have the drive to improve themselves come out ahead.

I’m Taro, a male member. That’s only natural. The same goes for having a large chest. Still, there are all kinds of people in the world, and a person’s appeal isn’t determined by looks alone. That applies to everything, but rather than envying what someone else was born with, I think it’s more productive to find the field and approach that suit you best.

I think so too. But some beautiful women also encounter misfortunes that ordinary people would never experience precisely because they’re beautiful. Marika
