It’s not that I never think about it, but I’m not particularly careful. Well, if it happens, I suppose it can’t be helped...

First of all, what’s shallow is acting knowledgeable despite having only a superficial understanding.
People who share something they merely overheard as though they actually know it… like you, the questioner.
People who explain someone else’s knowledge as if it were their own.
People who speak as though they themselves had been put in the same position as someone close to them… like doctors’ wives criticizing and evaluating their husbands’ fellow physicians, or celebrities’ and other famous people’s wives.
People who are merely affiliated with a hospital yet speak as though they were healthcare professionals… There have been more of them over the past two years.
To the people actually involved, all of these are just laughable. But would you really come to a place like this to ask about it?
As for the answer: the only thing that causes trouble in an affair isn’t dying in the act, and that doesn’t happen nearly as often as you seem to expect.

> “There are surprisingly quite a few.”
I think that’s the key point here.
If you assumed there were absolutely none, then even finding a few would make it feel like there are “surprisingly quite a few.”
But I think the denominator is important.
If there are only a few among 10 million people, that’s practically none.
It’s similar to saying, “There are surprisingly quite a few people who win 1.2 billion yen in the lottery.”
There are people who win, of course, but the odds are extremely low.
I think the chances of the other person collapsing are also low.
Still, since the possibility isn’t zero, I think it’s good to prepare for various scenarios. It’s like an evacuation drill.
People often panic in an emergency, so if you think in advance about what actions to take while you’re calm, you’ll be better able to respond when an emergency actually occurs.

I’m a male member—and a total loser.
I’m a short, bald, overweight old bachelor, but strangely, when I have my vascular age tested, I’m told it’s about 20 years younger than my actual age.
So I guess I won’t die in the act, but I appreciate the warning. I’ll be more careful! Winter in particular is scary, isn’t it?

When you say “doctor friend,” do you mean “a friend who, like the questioner, is a doctor”? Or “a friend who sees the same doctor”? Or “a friend who’s a doctor, even though I’m not”?
Generally, when someone says “〇〇 friend,” the 〇〇 refers to something the speaker and their friend have in common. For example, “yoga friends” means “friends who both do yoga,” and “mom friends” means “friends who are both mothers.”
I can’t imagine someone who can’t think based on quantitative data working as a doctor, so I’m sure you mean, “I’m not a doctor, but I have a friend who is.”
With that level of intelligence and language ability, I think you’d be better off continuing to let your spouse support you without getting divorced, even if they had a mistress.
