This is just my personal impression, but lately I hardly ever hear men offer 50,000 yen per meeting. Offers of 100,000 yen or more come up occasionally, and the amount I’m most often offered is 100,000 yen. I’m not exaggerating or saying this to push up the average pay-per-meeting rate—I genuinely feel this way. Are there simply more financially comfortable men around these days?

Maezawa from Shachoshitsu here. It seems there can be a clear difference in this area. When a man feels that a woman would probably turn him down unless he offers her 10 or more, he’ll pay that amount. I’m not sure what leads men to make that judgment. Perhaps when they talk with you, the conversation gives them the impression that you wouldn’t be interested unless they offered 10 or more. Of course, if it’s just a conversation, the man can always choose to give up this time. But I think they see you as a woman worth offering 10 or more to, all things considered. That said, once it reaches 10, moving into the next digit creates a psychological barrier. Even among men who seemed gentlemanly, I got the impression that many would offer around 8. So perhaps that range has shifted from 8 to 10 recently. > Are there more men doing well financially these days? I’m not sure. I haven’t heard anything in particular to suggest that, but some industries saw increased demand during COVID, and there are probably people who made money through investments as well. So I think some men may have become better off because of COVID.

> Are there more financially well-off men these days? I think a lot of men made money during the COVID boom and through government relief and business support payments. I’m not ready to become the kind of man who needs to pay ¥10,000 per pay-per-meeting yet. —Paper Airplane

I’m a male member, and honestly, I’m one of the losers. Among the people answering here, only Saito♪ and I consistently offer 10 per meeting. Everyone else offers 5, so even someone who can reliably offer 8 per meeting is a rare find. I’m doing my best to raise the going rate for allowances, but I’m sorry—I haven’t been able to make much of a difference… In other words, questioner, you must be wonderful to receive offers of 10 per meeting one after another. You’re probably a popular “Black”-tier woman, I’m sure. I once had a “Platinum”-tier woman in a monthly arrangement who was extremely popular, but apart from me, only one other person offered her 10 per meeting. Even for a woman popular enough to receive offers from over 20 people, getting 10 per meeting is difficult.

I’m Aya, a female member. Hmm, I’m not sure. I feel like it’s probably just a coincidence. But I haven’t met anyone new since COVID, so I suppose that might be the case for some people.

I’m Dai, a male member. That’s great for you. Maybe you just happened to meet a generous man? Personally, I haven’t noticed that it’s become easier for even new women to turn down a pay-per-meeting allowance of 50,000 yen. It’s not that I want to lower the going rate, though.

I’m Tetsu, a male member. Quite a few people made money during the COVID turmoil, so it’s certainly possible that there are more financially comfortable men around now.
