I’d genuinely like to hear some concrete examples of what rich people brag about.
Do they talk about their annual income or total assets? Or how many cars they own and what they drive, where they live, or how many vacation homes they have? It sounds like a child bragging about their toys.
I’ve heard of someone who said, “I wasn’t planning to sell, but they asked me to, so I sold my company. It ended up going for several hundred million yen, and now I just spend my days enjoying life.” But it didn’t come across as bragging.
There really are some interesting people out there.

I don’t think it was meant as bragging—wasn’t it just a fairly ordinary story? Perhaps you simply picked up on it because you were trying so hard to find fault with the questioner’s story.

To someone who’s practically drooling over the thought of getting money, even a normal conversation probably sounds like bragging. They’re just being cynical.
The moment money comes up, their eyes light up and all they can think about is cash. They can’t hide how vulgar it is.
Maybe the person asking the question is the interesting one here?
Isn’t it basically them saying, “Do you really think a girl who brings nothing to the table yet makes outrageous demands is worth that much?”

I’m not really sure why he’s bragging. I haven’t seen many people brag like that before.
Maybe he just wants to be popular.
That said, haggling over lowering the allowance is pretty uncool.
