I’ve actually been thinking the opposite lately—that there seem to be a lot of short male college students. Whatever-*danshi* you’re talking about, even the tallest are only around 179 cm, right?
When pregnant women are underweight, they’re more likely to have shorter children. For about the past 20 years, guidance encouraging women not to gain weight during pregnancy has led to more petite young people. In response, obstetricians are now telling expectant mothers to gain weight appropriately.
It’s kind of sad, isn’t it? I wish there were more tall guys.

The negative Flynn effect.
People in their 20s today are becoming less mature, both in appearance and in substance. I think that’s the bigger problem.
Rather than wasting time complaining about older men being short, you’d be better off studying a little more and enriching your own mind.

According to Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology:
Average height
Ages 30–34: 172.13 cm
Ages 55–59: 170.99 cm
Compared with the age group with the highest average height, 30–34, the difference for men in their 50s is only about 2 cm.
That’s quite different from the image the questioner seems to have.
Only 6.4% of the entire male population—about 1 in 15 men—are 180 cm or taller. Finding a handsome guy among those men must be pretty difficult.
It’s becoming a social issue that people younger than those in their 30s are getting shorter and slimmer.
Apparently, the average height has remained more or less unchanged at just over 170 cm for the past 10 years and hasn’t increased much.
↑ That’s what Google told me.

You’re hung up on superficial things like height and looks.
Still just a wet-behind-the-ears fledgling, selling your body—must be tough.

Another round of trolling in the question box…
I don’t know whether they’re trying to get the question box shut down, but I really wish they’d stop posting nothing but insults.
Do they get some kind of benefit from it?
> Aren’t there a lot of short men?
No, there aren’t.
> Why is that?
I get the feeling it’s because the person asking has a strange way of thinking.
> Do men also get shorter in their 40s and 50s?
No, they don’t.
Well, cartilage does wear down, so it’s possible to lose around 0.5 cm, but since that doesn’t seem to be what they’re talking about, the answer is still no.

You seem pretty stupid, don’t you? I’m surprised someone that unintelligent can even date.
Try Googling “aging and height” or “changes in the average height of 17-year-old men and women.”
I’ve heard about the “negative Flynn effect,” the idea that IQ has been declining with each generation. Looks like it was true after all.
