If you end up taking a trip together, how do you usually handle travel expenses and the allowance?

I’m Saito♪, a columnist. It’s a time of year when there are quite a few graduation trips and overseas trips, isn’t it? In my case, overseas trips are no more than two nights and four days, while domestic trips are one night and two days. I give them one meeting’s allowance plus a little extra. We stay in separate rooms or connecting rooms. (Basically, at a good hotel, connecting rooms usually come with a king and a twin bed, so I think inviting two women can work well too.) We meet at the airport and part ways there as well. If there’s only one person, I arrange a car to take her close to home. I think it’s better to space out the plane seats a bit so they can enjoy the flight. (I don’t even open the window shade on my side.) We also make sure to give each other at least half a day of free time. That’s more or less how I do things. Some women say they don’t need an allowance, but I believe that nothing is more expensive than something free, so I tend to hesitate a little in those situations. When it comes to traveling, there are probably many different ways to do things, and I don’t think there are any fixed rules. As long as both sides are comfortable with the arrangement, I think that’s fine. If you don’t like it, you can simply choose not to go.

When he views the trip partly as a gift, he may not provide a separate allowance. Instead, the hotel, flights, and meals may tend to be more upscale. That said, some men apparently do provide an allowance similar to what they normally give when meeting during a trip as well. So if you’re worried, it may be a good idea to ask beforehand. However, asking in advance could also disappoint him and potentially lead to the arrangement ending before it even begins. Ultimately, it depends on how things have been between you so far and what the man has in mind, so there doesn’t seem to be one definitive answer.
