Sometimes women of average looks ask for 100,000 yen or more per meeting. Should I take that as an indirect way of turning me down?

Just pay the 10 without saying anything and be done with it. If your daughter were about average-looking and started papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan), you’d tell her: “Don’t accept anything as low as 10, okay? Say 20!” Right? —A sore loser

I’m Nana Ayase ♡ To move up from being a favorite, you need to offer at least ¥100,000 per pay-per-meeting arrangement—otherwise you won’t be able to replace the current generation.

I’m in Seattle. I already have about three favorite men, and any more would be too much for my body and schedule. To displace one of the existing men and become a favorite, would I need to offer 100,000 yen?

I’m Dai, a male member. A woman’s appearance has nothing to do with the allowance I’m willing to offer. I sometimes feel that ordinary women with little experience ask for a higher allowance when they’re entering an adult relationship for the first time. Personally, even if her requested allowance is a little high, I sometimes end up accommodating her wishes.

You’ve listed appearance levels based on your personal preferences, but women may also have their own instinctive standards for what they can tolerate—“A 5 is okay, I guess…” or “I can’t do it unless he’s at least a 10…” Personally, I’ve never changed how I treat someone depending on who they are. I’m Aya, a female member. I’ve never indirectly turned someone down by quoting an outrageous allowance. If I wanted to decline, I’d give a definite reason, like being on my period or having to get up early the next day. Those women probably really did want 100,000 yen on a pay-per-meeting basis. Also, I don’t think looks have anything to do with the allowance. It was probably just a coincidence that you happened to run into several cases like that in a row.

I’m Kazu, a male member. No, I think that’s simply what the woman wants. If she were trying to turn you down indirectly, she’d probably name a much higher amount. You mention appearance, but everyone has different preferences. You may adjust the allowance based on a woman’s looks, but not everyone does.

Maezawa from the CEO’s Office here. If she really meant to turn you down, she’d probably ask for something like one million yen. I don’t understand why you’d take 100,000 yen as a rejection. It simply means there are men who are willing to pay 100,000 yen. If you don’t want to pay that much, I think it’s best to part ways cleanly. Besides not wanting to pay, if you simply don’t have enough room in your budget, then perhaps it was too soon for you to use a dating club. I think you should broaden your perspective instead of focusing so much on yourself. You should realize that it’s strange to assume the other person was turning you down just because your preferences differed from theirs.
