I don’t think relying solely on papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) is a sensible way to manage risk, so I have a regular job as well. I often ask my papas for advice, too.

I make offers based on a woman’s profession, and since I hear quite a bit about the industry she works in, I’m confident that the women I see really do work in those fields.
Among the women I’ve met more than a few times, none have lied about their profession.
Adding this after reading Marika’s answer:
I agree that temp agency work should count as having a legitimate job. Otherwise, we’d have to say that women who work at bank counters don’t have legitimate jobs either.
