To all the men and women here, let me ask you frankly:
What kind of woman makes you want to keep pursuing her?
Today, I went to my sister’s place to have her teach me PowerPoint, and she told me,
“I want you to become more of the kind of woman men want to pursue.”
For example, a hostess at a Ginza club—someone who is independent, understands finances, is perceptive, and can smoothly offer support. Someone who may be the object of jealousy but never gets jealous herself.
She lectured me for about an hour, saying, “It’s no good if you’re only pretty on the outside. You need to study more. Nana, you have to become that kind of woman…”
But if I become that independent, I feel like I might not need men anymore. Still, I always want to be loved, so I thought, “I see… Maybe I’ll try a little harder.”
I’m sure everyone has different opinions, but please tell me what your ideal woman is—the kind you’d want to keep by your side for a long time.
I’d love to hear lots of opinions.

I’m not really into Ginza hostesses because I get the impression that their personalities are manufactured and that they’re nothing but a bundle of techniques.
All I want is a naturally kind woman.
That’s it.

These days, rather than a woman I want to chase after, I’d say I value a woman who won’t run away or leave me.
When I was younger, I did chase after women based largely on their looks. But after learning the hard way that chasing someone doesn’t work, I stopped doing it（笑）. Experiencing the reality that beautiful women aren’t interested in unattractive men, and accomplished women don’t look twice at clueless guys, made me more realistic（笑）.

I’m drawn to women who study, grow, and move forward faster than I do—I want to keep chasing after them. When I feel like all she can see is her future, I want to keep following her forever.
When a girl always needs my help, I start thinking, “How long is it going to take her to become independent...?” and eventually get tired of it.
The more someone can work hard and move forward without my help, the more I want to see where they go next. I end up continuing to support them, even when they tell me they don’t need it! lol
I feel the same way about male artists, too.

I think both men and women would rather not be the one doing the chasing if they can help it—they want to be pursued, don’t they?
Men may want to do a little chasing too, but there’s a limit. When the exhaustion and hassle start to outweigh everything else, I guess it depends on your mental state at the time. I can suddenly lose interest, so if someone deliberately plays that kind of game as a technique, I end up cooling off instantly.
Someone you want to keep by your side for a long time may be someone you can trust. I feel that even more as I get older, haha.

I’m in Seattle.
If it were Neru Nagahama, she could probably get 1,000 per pay-per-meeting arrangement. I might even pay 1,000 for the experience of a lifetime.
As for wanting to pursue someone: if she mastered the job and became a partner capable of being my right-hand person, I might want to chase after her because I’d hate to lose her.
But I’ve never met anyone like that in the past.
Yes, I suppose a Ginza hostess—or any woman who’s good at her job—might be pretty formidable.

I’m Flag Maker, a column writer.
I don’t want to spend my whole life chasing women—I have a job and a family, after all. Women who seem to enjoy being pursued by men just strike me as “too much trouble.”
The kind of woman I’d want to keep by my side would be, in terms of marriage, “a woman who wouldn’t betray me.” Her looks and personality wouldn’t matter that much. As for a mistress, she’d be “a woman who keeps a comfortable distance and is convenient for me.” Though I don’t think a woman like that exists, lol.
Oh, I did think of one exception. If it were Neru Nagahama, that would be a different story. I’d do everything I could to chase after her and keep her by my side.
