I met someone who’s a Type C. Toward the end of dinner, I invited her to continue afterward, but she turned me down, saying it was that time of the month. I reflected that she must have disliked me. Surely a Type C girl wouldn’t make plans on a day when that might happen, right?

I’m Flagmaker, a column writer. If you like a woman, believe what she says—even if it’s a lie. It’s not about thinking, “She’s like this, so what should I do?” And it’s not about thinking, “She likes me, so I should pursue her.” You pursue her because you want to. If you’re afraid of failing, you’ll miss what she’s feeling more often than you think. If you want to ask her out, invite her on a second date. If you don’t, then don’t. It’s that simple.

I’ll answer this as Maezawa from the president’s office. Even if a woman gets her period right before the date and tells the club, the club can’t inform the man. So she goes to dinner thinking, “He probably wants an adult relationship (intimate), but I’m on my period, and the club won’t tell him…” The reason the club doesn’t share that information is because its role is to arrange meetings, not intimate encounters. From their standpoint, whether she’s on her period or not is irrelevant. (However, if her period is particularly severe and even dinner would be difficult, the club will check with the man about changing the date.) So just because she says she’s on her period doesn’t mean she disliked you. It’s more likely that she really was on her period. When she tells you that, try bringing up plans for next time. If she responds vaguely, saying she doesn’t know what her schedule will be like, there’s a good chance she wasn’t interested. If you’re able to smoothly set the next date, then she likely really was on her period. There are exceptions to everything, but in many cases you can figure it out on the spot. I hope this helps.

I’m Dai, a male member. I want to seize every opportunity to receive an offer, so unless I’m 100% sure a woman is on her period, I’ll accept the offer. It happens fairly often that I exchange messages with a Type C woman, then meet her in person and find out she’s on her period. In that case, if we part ways gracefully, we’ll have sex on the next date.

I’m Date◎Yume, a male member. You should take it as a positive that your offer wasn’t rejected. At least they were willing to meet you… I’m jealous, since I’ve had my offers rejected several times. If you exchanged contact information, there may still be room for things to progress. Apparently, periods don’t always come exactly as scheduled.

It’s Seattle. 70%: She lied about being on her period because she didn’t want to see you again. 30%: She really was on her period. Even then, I think she would’ve shown up rather than cancel at the last minute. For now, try inviting her one more time and include the allowance.

I’m Kazu, a male member. Sometimes her period coincides with the day of the first date. Menstrual cycles can shift by a few days. If she agrees to see you again, I don’t think she dislikes you.

I’m Fuu, a columnist. If there are no plans to meet again or exchange LINE contact information, I’m sorry, but I’ll have to decline. Just move on and make your next offer. Even I get turned down about 10% of the time. If you take away the “it’s my time of the month” excuse from C-type women, they’ll have no reason to say no—so please forgive them.

I’m Osaka, a male member. I think so too. Did you make plans to meet again or exchange contact information? If not, maybe she didn’t like you. Just forget about it and move forward! Nothing you can do about it.
