Since “shame” is short for “sha-mail,” it does feel a little odd when people mostly use LINE rather than email to stay in touch.
If you’re attaching a photo to an email, though, I think it’s still fine to call it a “shame.”
If you’re exchanging messages on LINE, “photo” would probably be more natural.
Still, I didn’t even notice until it was pointed out. It really doesn’t matter.
If a younger woman teases you with, “People don’t say that anymore,” just take it as an opening and turn it into a joke.

Once, I said “shame” to a woman, and she froze for about half a second, so I don’t use that term anymore.
I think people usually just say “photo.”
You could probably get the answer right away by asking the person you made the offer to. That’d be faster than asking here, anyway（笑).

I’m in my 20s, but I’ve never used the term “shame” (a picture taken with a cellphone). I’d normally say something like, “I’ll send you a photo!” or “Let’s take a picture!”

I’m Fuu, a columnist.
We’re around the same age, but I can’t say for sure since I don’t use “shame”—I hardly ever take photos with anything other than my smartphone anymore.
So when I say “take a photo,” I mean taking one with a smartphone. At the club, I tell women, “Send me your photo on LINE.”
