I’m the one who just asked which of the two is necessary for a young woman. My living expenses don’t even come close to 500,000 yen. They’re only around 200,000–250,000 yen at most, so including my part-time income, I can save 400,000 yen every month. Still, there’s no harm in saving, and I’m afraid my income could suddenly drop. My spending habits are completely normal—I don’t buy designer brands at all.

I’m Fuu, a column writer. As for how much time you devote to papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) versus a part-time job, I think it’s entirely up to you and what you feel is right. What matters is being able to stop when you want to—and not getting so deeply involved that you can’t get out. I believe it’s important to stay in control of yourself.

I'm Kazu, a male member. So she wasn't a big spender after all—she was just stingy. I still think what she really needs is a normal sense of money, which you develop through working part-time.

This is Mack, a male member. There’s no one right answer. It’s a gamble, in a sense. That’s what life is—a series of choices like that. You can do whatever you want, but don’t look back and regret things too much. It’s a waste of time. P.S. I don’t think the questioner’s current approach is bad either. There’s nothing wrong with making money efficiently through papa-katsu (compensated dating in Japan) and saving it. What you’re missing is the realization that, since this is your own life and there’s no single right answer, talking to other people won’t solve it for you.
