I’m Shingo Lee, a columnist.
This is what I personally feel was the most helpful thing I did for her. I don’t know how she herself feels about it, so please keep that in mind when reading.
I helped her find a way to earn money from her hobby.

She had a regular office job during the day, but didn’t earn very much. She’d enjoyed knitting for years and would knit whenever she had the time.
I thought her knitting had a unique appeal and could sell, so I taught her how to promote and sell her work. Now she earns as much from knitting alone as she does from her day job.
I feel that this may have been the most beneficial thing I did for her.

I make a point of listening to her talk as much as I can.
When there’s something to celebrate, I celebrate it while expressing my everyday gratitude.
On her birthday, I sing “Happy Birthday” at the top of my lungs, and at Christmas, I belt out Mariah Carey’s Christmas songs.
That last part may be unnecessary, though（笑）
I always do everything I can for her.
Since all I can really do is appreciate her without taking anything for granted and carefully build up the little things, one by one.

I’m Kamihikōki, a male member who’s a poor, low-paying papa.

Sometimes, maybe they appreciate the time more than the allowance??
I’ve become an “anytime, anywhere” chauffeur who puts even an assī to shame, rushing out to meet them no matter how far away they are. If they ask me to keep them company, I’ll go along for as many hours as it takes.
And honestly, I feel lucky to have someone I’m happy to spend four hours round-trip traveling to see.
“What, would she come to see you?” If there’s an allowance involved, anyone would come all the way out to meet me, right?
But as a man, whether she’s a favorite I actually want to go out of my way to see—that’s the key point.
